Agile Octopus in a minute
- One price per half hour. Agile Octopus is a tariff where the electricity unit rate changes every 30 minutes, following the wholesale market.
- Prices are published a day ahead – between 4pm and 8pm, usually nearer 4pm – so you can plan tomorrow.
- Prices can go below zero. When there is more power than the grid needs, Octopus calls this "plunge pricing" and customers can be paid to use electricity. Prices are also capped at 100p/kWh.
- Your region matters. The same half-hour can cost a different amount in each of the 14 regions, which is why this page compares them all. Check your postcode on the home page or pick a region below.
